EMBL Courses and Conferences - 40 years of Training

Advanced training is one of the five core missions of EMBL. EMBL has been training scientists throughout its history, with the first officially recorded practical course dating back to 1977. Courses and conferences have always played a pivotal role, and the programme has continually grown over the last 40 years, today welcoming approximately 7300 attendees annually at all the EMBL sites.

EMBO|EMBL Symposia 5th anniversary

2015 marks the fifth anniversary of the EMBO|EMBL Symposia series, which are designed to promote scientific communication and collaboration in the European research area. They provide scientists with a platform to discuss and exchange ideas on forward-looking topics and new developments in the life sciences. We talked to Gerlind Wallon (EMBO Deputy Director) and Jürgen Deka (EMBL Scientific Coordinator) about the history and future of the EMBO|EMBL symposia.
