Event Canvas

#EventCanvas to events what sheet music is to music. Keen to see the past and future developments for Event Canvas™? We believe the meeting profession is a serious profession, without serious tools. It is our vision to create a common language for events. Highly visual and open source.

We assess and assimilate existing models and theories into a logical context and challenge model makers and thought leaders to turn models into tools. Event Model Generation is a movement started by Roel Frissen and Ruud Janssen in 2013. As seasoned meeting and event industry professionals they are change makers with an entrepreneurial spirit.;xNLx;;xNLx;"We witnessed the growth of the industry in the last two decades. Many research pieces and theories have been published. The industry is craving for recognition and very well on its way to get recognized. Recognition depends on research and proven business cases. Let's build them together!;xNLx;;xNLx;We are at the crossroads of numerous brilliant initiatives including Business Modeling, Meeting Design, Meeting Architecture, Service Design, Content Design and Event ROI. Yet, we do not have a common language.";xNLx;;xNLx;Let's create a visual, user friendly language and tools for crafting innovative and sustainably successful events.;xNLx;;xNLx;Roel Frissen and Ruud Janssen;xNLx;EventDesignCollective.com

With 11 months of digging, thinking, illustrating and documenting, we are eager to share the multiple iterations to a process and a canvas. We are counting on you for us to be challenged, questioned, criticised, improved and come out with a debated but validated output. You as a meeting owner are the demand side of the business. Event Model Canvas Workshop at MGM Grand Las Vegas

Workshop Event Model Generation How change makers design, prototype and discuss Event Designs visually Workshop Event Model Generation: - offers insight in how events create value - trains eventprofessionals how to design events - facilitates the strategic discussion about events - is a tool for strategic management What is Event Model Generation? The event model canvas is a visual chart with elements that describe an event's promise and how the event will help stakeholders get their jobs done, resolve pains and create gains within an established framework of commitment and expected returns. The canvas articulates how behaviour changes as a result of having participated in the event and states the required levels of satisfaction against expectations. The canvas also outlines the costs and expected revenues in relation to the customer journey and the instructional design of an event. The canvas helps organisations align their activities by illustrating potential trade-offs of their events. Building a thorough event model canvas can be achieved through a sequential, 10-step methodology in which the event team systematically analyses, describes and outlines the inputs for the components in the final canvas prototypes. The methodology employs a range of visual thinking techniques, including empathy mapping, value proposition canvassing, return on investment methodology, business model canvassing, service design canvassing and instructional design modelling. Who should participate? This workshop is for change-makers who want a hands-on approach to understanding, designing and delivering events that matter by using the event model canvas, which is a strategic management template for developing new or documenting existing events and conference models. Event Design Collective Licensee Network

DEMOCRATIZING DESIGN: EVENT DESIGN COLLECTIVELAUNCHES TO BUILD CAPACITY TO TRAIN 2019 EVENT DESIGNERS BY 2019 Basel, Switzerland 5 March 2017 With a first successful partnership rolled out in Canada, now the newly created Event Design Collective is delighted to announce the launch of three new partnerships in Spain, Germany and the United States. In a fast changing landscape, now more than ever teams want to learn how to collaboratively create shared experiences. They want to have fun by consciously designing for behaviour change using proven methodologies. The Event Design Methodology using the #EventCanvas℠brings teams in a state of play to design. A user recently described the #EventCanvas as “a super helpful analogue system to track the past, organise the present + plan for the future”. According to the founders of the Event Design Collective, it’s now time to democratize design. We are driven to enable everyone to use this collaborative team approach to create events that consciously change our world in the desired direction of change. “DESIGN IS NOW MAINSTREAM. YET DESIGN HAS ALWAYS BEEN MAINSTREAM. DESIGN = CHANGE. WHOEVER CHANGED SOMETHING HAS DESIGNED.” – MARIANO SUAREZ-BATTAN (MURAL) Certified Event Designers have obtained their CED designation in an effort by San Diego State University, University of Amsterdam, MPI and Event Model Generation. Since 2015, more than 800 professionals have been trained and 50 have obtained the coveted CED designation. The launch of the licensed partner network will offer local partners the opportunity to offer Event Design Certification training in new languages, levels and geographies. As a result, trained facilitators using the Event Design using the #EventCanvas℠ methodology will become Licensees to use the method to train and consult future practitioners. Event Design Collective Spain will be led by Angeles Moreno, CED. With a wealth of experience in the Spanish speaking markets as current MPI Spain president, she will lead the charge in the region. Gerrit Jessen, CMP, CMM, CED current Vice-Chair of Finance on the MPI International Board of Directors, will lead the development of Event Design Collective Germany. In the United States, the Event Design Collective USA will be spearheaded by Terri Breining, CMM, CMP, CED, past Chair of MPI International Board of Directors and principal at Breining Group. To date 800 professionals have been trained in the 3 levels of the #EventCanvas℠ methodology and ambitious plans are underway to grow the number of Certified Event Designers in the near future to 2019. Programmes currently in place include: 3 year partnership with IMEX and IMEX Americas to train 800 Level 1 Professionals, Faculty and Students by 2019 6 Universities have launched the pilot programme of the EDC Young Professionals (EDC YP) in Europe and North America last year and to be expanded after the 1 year pilot phase Event Design Certificate Programme to become a Certified Event Designer taking place in collaboration with San Diego State University (since 2015), University of Amsterdam (since 2016), and Ryerson University in Toronto (starting in 2017) and MPI After launching the #EventCanvas in 2014, Ruud Janssen and Roel Frissen founded Event Model Generation and the EventCanvas.org Foundation. They now founded the Event Design Collective together with Dennis Luijer. Together, they wrote the “Event Design Handbook, Systematically design innovative events using the Event Canvas” published in 2016 available in bookstores around the globe. Currently there are 7 trainers active in the Event Design Collective. Within the next years they expect more regions and trainers to be added to the Event Design Collective.
