"La Cage Aux Follies"

"La Cage Aux Folles" follows the owner of a drag club and his drag performer partner who navigate through familial trouble when their son becomes engaged to a girl with homophobic parents. The playhouse production was heavily praised for the vigor of the ensemble that performed in drag, and the poignancy of performances by the principal actors. Additionally, the cast of "La Cage" also performed at "The Revolting Cabaret" to benefit the Pittsburgh AIDS Task force.

"Winnie The Pooh" presented by Pittsburgh Playhouse Jr. Children's Theater

The B.E.A.R. Drug Programs Foundation sponsored the production. In order to raise awareness of alcohol abuse in a kid-friendly approach, the workbook contained multiple pages featuring the mascot Huggie the Bear, including a pledge for young attendees to stay sober for life. "Accusations" from Student Choreographer Showcase

This student choreographed work examined the effects of George H. W. Bush's request for "college student morale" in Iraq. A 1991 Globe article reflected the student body's objection to the Gulf War, especially in regard to human rights and motivations from oil. "Accusations" featured dancers moving in a stylized militaristic nature, mimicking soldiers. The Velveteen Rabbit presented by the Playhouse Jr. Children's Theater

This production was also sponsored by the B.E.A.R. Drug Programs Foundation. "A Time of Ashes" from the Winter Dance Concert

A piece choreographed by Doug Bentz that examined the emotional turmoil of women experiencing miscarriages. Originally performed in the Winter Dance Concert, it was created at a time when miscarriages were still stigmatized against mothers and medical professionals. Bentz further expressed the pain of miscarriage by quoting D.H. Lawrence in the program notes saying, "I am ill because of the wounds to the soul, to the deep emotional self--and the wounds to the soul take a long, long time..." "A Hatful of Rain"

Alcohol and drug abuse was heavy on the minds of the university's students in the 1980s and 1990s. Opinion articles from the globe addressed the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse as well as the need for the banning of alchol in the campus, specifically during student club and PPU organized events. "Hatful of Rain" was a complex that shared the complexities of how drug and alcohol abuse drastically affects family life. "Seasons of Change" presented by the Point Park Theater Club

This was the fourth Annual AIDS Benefit Show. Proceeds from the show would go to Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force so that they can focus on pediatric care, education, and research.

"A Celebration of Life" presented by the Point Park College Theater Club

This second annual AIDS benefit show is dedicated to a local victim of AIDS. All proceeds from the student-run show were donated to Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force and The Corpus Christi Residence. New York Organziation Broadway Cares/Equity act helped the production in a big way. "Millenium Approaches" presetned by the Point Park College Conservatory
