The Middlesex County Times newspaper reported that Ealing FC played their first match on Saturday, 6th November, 1869 on Ealing Common against the students of Hanwell College. Ealing won by two goals and "several" touchdowns. It is not clear from the report whether this was Ealing's first match or the first match of the '69-'70 season.
