Zeki Müren Life

Turkish singer, composer, songwriter, actor and poet. Müren, known as "Sun of Art" and "Pasha".He is the only child of a family of Skopje immigrants from Bursa. While still in primary school, his talent was discovered by his teachers and he began to play leading roles in musical school performances.

Music career

Zeki Müren took lessons from important musicians of his time and continued his education at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts (now Mimar Sinan University).In 1950, when he was a university student, he won the soloist exam held by TRT Istanbul Radio, in which 186 candidates participated.

Achievements

It is regarded as one of the biggest names in classical Turkish music.The artist, who has also given to start the first Gold Record Award in Turkey, have filled music experience of more than six hundred records and tapes throughout, has composed more than three hundred songs.

TRT Istanbul Radio

On January 1, 1951, he gave his first radio concert on a live program on Istanbul Radio and this concert was very much appreciated. He filled out a single-song record in the same week, which was supported by important artists of the period. Thanks to this plaque, Müren was recognized throughout Anatolia.Zeki Muren, after this successful first concert of works and plaque studies began regular radio voice in Turkey. The radio shows lasted fifteen years, most of them live broadcast programs.

Radio programs

He gave his first stage concert on May 26, 1955. He usually wore stage clothes that he designed himself. He brought various innovations such as dressing the saz committee in uniform and using the podium.He took the stage with Behiye Aksoy for 11 consecutive years on the stages of Maksim Casino in the most famous casino of the period. In 1976, he gave a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London and became the first Turkish artist to perform in this venue.

"Manoliam"

Zeki Müren made more than 600 records and cassettes. Müren 1955 "Magnolia he" with the song won the Gold Plaque Award for the first time in Turkey.

In 1965, he published his poetry book called Bıldırcın Yağmuru, which included nearly 100 poems.

His songs

He composed around 300 songs. It is the first song that he composed for an acemkürdi song, which started with the line "Zehretme life is my life to me", which he composed when he was seventeen."Şimdi Uzaklardasın" (suzinâk) , "Bir Demet Yasemen","Gözlerinin İçine Başka Hayal Girmesin" (nihavend),"Elbet Bir Gün Buluşacağız".The songs such as are frequently read and loved. Zeki Müren also read these songs on records.

House in the basement

Zeki Müren stayed away from the stage especially in the last six years of his life due to heart disease and diabetes, and retreated at his home in Bodrum. He describes this period as "listening to oneself".

Monument Grave

His grave is in the Emirsultan Cemetery in Bursa, where he was also born

Art Museum

After his death, the house where the artist lived in Bodrum for his last years was converted into Zeki Müren Art Museum and opened to visitors on 8 June 2000.
