Luna and Mars Development on Track

Luna and Mars both reach 10,000 permanent inhabitants. Colonial expansion planned for the Belt and beyond.

2090-10-07 00:00:00

Outer Gold Rush Begins

Ceres is settled as corporations and thousands of prospectors flock to the belt. Hastily created mining settlements are made on Vesta, Pallus, and Hygiea.

2092-01-14 00:00:00

Birth of Piracy and Space Militarization

With UN oversight restricted by the size of the Belt and its distance away from Earth, little law exists. Acts of Corporate sabotage ranging from theft to murder. This situation boils over with the bombing of a Liang Industries Ice Reclamation Facility on Pallas by agents from the rivaling Shade Conglomerate, killing 1,400 people and causing a water crisis throughout the Belt. UN responds to this with increased regulation Belt Corporations and expansion of UN Security Forces. The first ever Spaceborn Warship is created.

2101-05-05 00:00:00

1st Belt Insurgency

Feeling strained under increasing UN regulation and oversight, Belt Corporations begin sowing dissent among the Belt Colonists, citing UN crackdowns on Separatists in the Pacific Northwest and British Isle Administration Zones as signs of things to come. Rebel cells begin operations throughout the Belt, attacking UN military and political facilities. Surprisingly, UN response is quick and efficient, with surgical strikes carried out with minimum civilian and UN causalities. Hostilities end with the two month Hygiea Siege. Tensions among the Belt remain to fester until Independence centuries later.

2126-06-18 00:00:00

Colonization Beyond the Belt Begins

With funds and resources from the Belt pouring in, Luna and Mars experience a boom in industry and technology. 2126 is the year when Luna and Mars are declared self sufficient. Amid celebrations, talks of future independence are brought up, which UN officials are hesitant to answer. Seeds of future tension are sowed between Earth and her two Colonies. Meanwhile, this boon in resources has led to the expansion of colonization efforts of the Outer Planets. Such a surplus exists that previously unfeasible projects such as the colonization of Venus and Mercury.

2135-10-20 08:35:41

Venus Rises, Mercury Faulters

One of the largest engineering projects in Human History, the Aerostat Cities of Venus. Construction of the cities go off without a hitch drawing in thousands of immigrants from across the System. While the settlement of Venus was a success, Mercury was less hopeful. Mercury's proximity to the Sun made colonization less inciting to Settlers. While mercury would boast a population of 3,000 willing settlers, the UN would decide to make the planet a Penal Colony of some of its worse offenders.

2137-10-23 08:35:41

Martian Unrest Begins

In 2137, a Martian petition for greater autonomy and eventual independence was shot down by then Secretary-General Bjarni Kishan, who like many Earthborn UN politicians, believed in an Earth-centric unified System. Protests and riots would begin to break out throughout the planet, and opinion on UN rule was beginning to shift within the Inner Planets.

2140-01-30 00:00:00

Olympus Mons Governor Mansion Siege and the Yeshayahu Incident

The system watched as the situation on Mars deteriorated. On Jan. 30 2140, 10 Martian separatists broke into the Governor's House of the Olympus Mons Settlement, taking the Governor and his Husband hostage, demanding Martian independence. The Siege lasted For one month until UN Special Forces were able to sneak in through an abandoned maintenance shaft, killing all of the Separatists. Later, in September 2nd, of the same year, University Professor and outspoken voice for Martian independence, Efret Yeshayahu, was arrested after writing that the earlier Mansion Siege was a necessary evil since Earth was unwilling to accept peaceful methods of separation. UN Officials would claim that Yeshayahu was "encouraging terrorist behavior" and sentenced Yeshayahu to 10 years on Mercury. While on Mercury, Yeshayahu would continue to write pieces on Martian Independence until his untimely death three months into his sentence on Mercury. Officials claimed that it was radiation sickness, yet released very little info on the situation. Conspiracy theories began to fuel more riots and terrorist attacks throughout Mars.

2150-01-30 00:00:00

The Martian Mutiny

A decade after the Governor's Siege, the 4th Martian Battlegroup would mutiny, declaring independence from Earth. Many of the units of the Martian Garrison, a predominantly Martian born organization, would follow suit. UN response was slow, as they had just lost a sizable chunk of their manpower. Troops would have to be pulled from the other Inner Planets, as the next largest pools of troops were on Earth, which never stopped fighting in Hotzones such as the Pacific Northwest and Britain, and the Belt, which were cleaning up the 4th Belt Insurgency. The reduction of troops on Venus and Luna would be the cause of greater instability in the two colonies.

Inner Planet Wars begin, Martian Independence War

In June 2150, a Taskforce of elements of the Venusian, Lunar, and Terran Fleets, numbering in 100 vessels to counter the the 65 of the Martian garrison. The Outnumbered Martians decided to flee, leaving behind 15 vessels under the command of Cpt. Farooq Hubertus. While ultimately would Forooq and his ships would be defeated. "Farooq's Stand" would see 45 UN vessels destroyed. Debris from both sides would rain down on Mars, crashing into domes, killing thousands all over the planet. Martian ground forces would continue fighting, forcing the UN to dig them out of their domes and underground cities. The surviving Martian ships would rally in the belt. raiding UN shipments in the hope of "starving" out Earth.

2151-03-02 14:53:23

Martian Independence War, Pallas Raid

After months of skirmishes and hit and run attacks, the Martians launch a raid of the UN Shipyards on Pallas. In coordination with Belt Corporate elements and Pallas's own separatist forces, Martian Commando units hit the facility, stealing ships and supplies and destroying anything that couldn't be brought off Pallas. The Martians were able to fully refit their forces as well as bring in another 25 vessels. The raid crippled the UN presence in the belt, emboldening rebels throughout Belt and further stretching out UN forces.

2151-07-16 14:18:24

Martian Independence War, Martian Fleet Returns Home, War Ends

With the UN bogged down on both Mars and the Belt, the Martian Fleet returned to their world, ready to kick out the UN once and for all. In orbit over Deimos, the Martian fleet rained hell on the UN fleet in a two day battle. Tired and outstretched, the UN fleet was forced to retreat, leaving behind UN ground forces engaged in multiple battles across Mars. Without orbital superiority, many of these forces would surrender to Martian forces. With no way to regain control of the situation, UN would be forced to recognize Martian Independence. Mars would begin to rebuild while simultaneously aiding other groups ready to rid themselves of Earth's yoke.

2161-09-11 03:47:19

Inner Planet Wars, The Lunar Revolt

After a decade of tension and animosity between Earth and Mars, Lunar Separatists funded by Belt and Martian elements began their uprising against Earth rule by capturing the massive Verne-Pattern Railgun Installations. Once pointed at Mars, they were instead turned against Earth and fired in Anger when the UN refused their demands for independence. On November 4th, 2161, the railguns were fired on Anchorage, Sapporo, and in the Pacific Ocean, the latter causing horrific tsunamis resulting in thousands of deaths along the Asian, Australian, and North and South American coasts. In reprisal, the UN hastily retrofitted many of the old nuclear arsenals that had been thrown in storage, still awaiting decommissioning even a century later. While able to hit many of the surface Domes and contaminate much of the surface of the Moon with radiation, much of the Lunar population inhabited underground settlements. After a year of exchanging fire and minimal troop landings, Earth was inevitably forced to concede defeat due to damage to many of Earth's cities. The Lunar Revolt remains one of Earth's bloodiest conflicts and greatest shames.

2164-05-24 02:20:55

Venusian Revolution

The Venusian Revolution is the shortest and least violent of the Inner Planet Conflicts. As thousands of protesters took to the streets demanding Venusian independence, Earth was practically powerless to stop them as the UN was still rebuilding from the Lunar Revolt. With the lack of a large and devastating conflict, Venus was not as starved for resources as the other big three powers of the Inner Planets.

2171-01-01 07:36:50

Solar System Cold War

Inner Planet reliance on Belt and Outer Planet resources was at an all time high. While unable to commit to outright hostility, the Inner Planets would spend the better part of a century competing with each other through various proxy wars and covert actions, with places such as Ceres and Ganymede changing hands multiple times throughout the Cold War period.

2305-03-05 00:00:00

the 21st and Final Belt Insurgency

After nearly 135 years of being exploited and played against each other, an alliance of various Belt and Outer Planet extremist groups, many of whom received training and supplies from the Inner Planets to fight their proxy wars, had formed to oust the Inner Planets, be they Earthborn, Martian, Lunar, or Venusian, once and for all. With coordinated strikes across the Outer System, the Inner Planet forces were completely crippled, allowing for rebel forces to have the advantage. From Ceres to Pluto, Declarations of Independence from any Inner Planet power were made. For the first time in history, the Outer System forces had the advantage over the Inner Planets. After attempts of regrouping and counter-attacks had failed, the Inner Planets were forced to concede defeat and finally recognize Belt and Outer Planet Independence.

Massive Burst of Energy Detected at the Edge of the System

Observatories and satellites throughout the system detected a large burst of energy at the outer edges of the system. Within seconds of the explosion, only large traces of radiation remained. With no official word on the matter, conspiracy theories arose, from alien contact to a new weapon test.

Release of FTL Drive Schematics (RP Start)

Disillusioned with the state of the Human race, a UN scientist released the schematics of the UN's top secret FTL drive in hopes of the technology being used for the benefit of all humanity instead of to gain a monopoly on power for one of its petty squabbling nations.
