Born in South Bend, Indiana to Jill and Steve Schultz. I joined my older siblings, Adam and Kayla.
Evaluation and referral for early intervention services as I had significant delays in walking and speaking.
Mild spastic left hemiparesis diagnosis confirmed with MRI.
Transitioned out of Early Intervention into pre-K. Started Special Needs and Abilities Program (SNAP) at Brown Elementary School for speech delay.
Started pre-K at First English Lutheran Nursery School.
Began A.M. Kindergarten at Marshall Elementary in South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC).
The SBCSC implemented their redistricting plan, “Plan Z”.
Underwent IQ testing with a school psychologist to see if my Individualized Education Plan (IEP) was still necessary.
Excelled in academics and had Mrs. Gusich, one of my favorite teachers.
Began attending LaSalle Intermediate Academy for 5th through 8th grade.
Sat in on my first case conference for my IEP.
Started school at James Whitcomb Riley High School
During my case conference, my mom and I had my IEP revoked.
Joined the newly established Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SSAC).
Graduated from Riley High School 4th in my class of 270 students.
Began attending American University with an intended major in international studies and a minor in education studies.
Job shadowed in the English Department at my old high school to confirm that I wanted to become an English teacher.
Studied abroad in Wellington, New Zealand at Victoria University of Wellington.
In the Fall of 2017, I began taking courses for my MAT in Secondary English.
Graduated with honors from American University with my BA in Literature.
Completed my practicum at Stuart-Hobson Middle School in DC.
Completed my student teaching at Walt Whitman High School in Montgomery County, MD.
Graduated with my MAT in Secondary Education with a concentration in English.
