Since the founding of our first Club in 1893, Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston has evolved tremendously.

Charlestown Club opens

The Panic of 1893 led to an economic downturn that especially affected the country’s working class hubs. Among them was Boston’s oldest neighborhood, Charlestown.

First radio transmission

Guglielmo Marconi, an Italian engineer, was credited as the inventor of the radio after broadcasting this transmission.

Boys Club incorporates

Boys Club of Boston, Inc. was then officially established.

First Model T

Production of the first Ford then revolutionized automobile travel.

Roxbury Club opens

19th amendment passed

White women in all states in turn received the right to vote.

Collapse of stock exchange

Alongside other pivotal economic events, the New York Stock Exchange's fall made way for the Great Depression.

South Boston Club opens

With the Great Depression well underway, resources for Boston’s youth were in even greater need.

V2 rocket launched

The U.S. thus put the first man-made object in space.

Brown v. Board of Education

In this landmark case, “separate but equal” schools were deemed unconstitutional.
