Our art here at the guild of liberal learning is autotelic, its purposes are intrinsic, like the blossoming rose, whose activity begins and ends with the agent---so too will our mind-geist evolve. Our trade is in ideas rather than objects, in words rather than things, in languages and literatures, stories and songs. This is a place of learning, properly speaking, where a person may engage others and the world in the adventures of self-understanding, disentangled by the "urgencies of the here and now." By its very nature, this education is cosmopolitan. It is an education that includes all willing beings.
