Adoptive parents Trezell and Jacqueline West notify the California Police Department that 3-year-old Orson and 4-year-old Orrin West are missing around 5:00 p.m.
California City Police issue a search warrant at the Wests' residence.
Neighbors begin to take notice of the investigation and take action. Search parties look for the boys through the night. “These are two little boys, they are about 3 feet tall. And if they are out there, they are scared,” California City Resident Jennifer Wood told 23ABC.
Local search efforts resume after multiple parties looked through the night. “I just want us to help keep searching for the babies because we know that if it was one of our own, we would want the community out supporting us,” said California City Resident Lamiya Patrick.
Foster parents are taken to the station and questioned by police. Cell phones are confiscated along with one of the Wests' vehicles. The Wests are asked to take a lie detector test.
The adoptive parents of the missing California City boys spoke to the media for the first time Wednesday, detailing the Monday night their children went missing. They told 23ABC the boys' four other siblings, who had since been removed from the home due to the investigation, were on vacation at the time of the boys' disappearance.
Neighbors tell 23ABC investigators are focusing on the backyard and are working into the night.
As local searches and investigations continue, a memorial with flowers, candles and messages from neighbors and residents begins to form outside the boys' California City home.
Another search warrant is served at the Wests' residence. By this point, police have dug up the backyard's terrain to see if the boys were buried underneath. Police tell 23ABC K-9 units were also deployed into the home multiple times and that the boys' scent did not leave the house.
GreenStone, a cannabis dispensary in Cal City announced the first reward in the case, which "will pay up to $10,000 ... to the person, or persons who provide information leading to the finding of Orrin and Orson," the reward flyer read. Authorities also telling 23ABC they had not searched the nearby desert areas.
