Robert Louis Stevenson is born in Edinburgh 13 November 1850.
Stevenson writes his first novel, The Plague Cellar, at the age 14.
Stevenson studies civil engineering at Edinburgh University.
Stevenson changes direction and begins to study law. He passes his law exams four years later.
Stevenson meets Fanny Osbourne, a divorced American and falls in love.
Stevenson leaves Scotland for California but in 1880 he marries Fanny and returns to Scotland.
Stevenson’s health deterioates and in 1887 he decides to return to the US where he is now famous for The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Treasure Island is published.
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is published.
Stevenson and Fanny move to Samoa due to his bad health.
