James and Lars recruited Cliff when they heard him play a show with his band Trauma.
Metallica plays live for the first time with Cliff Burton at The Stone in SF. Opening act Exodus.
Kirk Hammett is asked to join Metallica after the band sees him play in Exodus. A few days later on April 11th, the band asks Mustaine to leave by buying him a bus ticket back to Los Angeles.
Metallica signs with Megaforce Records and records "Kill 'Em All" in Rochester, NY
