June Hampshire founds The Jane Ann School of Dancing in Surrey.
Mrs Hampshire’s School (as The Hampshire School was known) came into being as an all-round academic and arts school.
St Saviour’s Hall in Walton Place rented for larger premises as the school expanded.
June Hampshire takes a group of senior pupils to the USA to perform dances at the American Dance Congress.
Academic success of The Hampshire School pupils shows with students winning scholarships to the City of London School for Girls, S Michael’s School at Petworth and St Felix School at Southwold. There was a success rate of almost 100% in the Common Entrance and 11-plus exams over this time.
June Hampshire retires as principal and is succeeded by her daughter Jane.
Success continues in the arts: 50 pupils successful in the Cecchetti ballet exams, 26 pupils win Scottish Country Dancing medals and 27 medals won for skiing during an Austria visit.
The Hampshire School Upper School moves premises to Ennismore Gardens.
