Henry the Navigator was one of the most important Africa explorers because he was the first prince to create an expedition which has to pass the Cap Bojador which was considered impassable. He was also very important because he created a Cartographic centre with the smartest geographer to create new and more precise map. He was one the pioneer of the world explores and that is his story and one fundetor of the richess and colonial power and exploration of the Portugal.
The prince Henry the navigator from portugal was born in 1394 in the important city of porto. His father was the King John I of Portugal, fundeter of Aviz dinasty and was his third child. He was one of the most important Portugese and world explorer.
Henry has 25 years old his father assign to him the province of Algavre and few month later the young prince became the chief of the rich and powerful order of Christ. These two important post will permit him to creat expedition and new ship "the caravel" to find the source of the gold trade , stopping pirat attack and find the kingdom of the Prester John. During this Year on of his expedition rediscover and colonize the MADEIRA island
During the different century people were thinking that the prince Henry created a big cartographic center but that was a misconception. The scientific of today are agree that he use some crtograph to make map but not like we were thinking befor.
In 1431 he donated houses for the Estudo Geral to reunite all the sciences — grammar, logic, rhetoric, arithmetic, music and astronomy — into what would later become the University of Lisbon. For other subjects like medicine or philosophy, he ordered that each room should be decorated according to each subject that was being taught.
It is one of the most famous Henry The Navigator expedition. It is the first time that an European pass this cap that was considerat impassable because was thinking that monster were living there.. That is the first step of the Africa and more late India exploration.
Using the new ship type, the expeditions then pushed onwards. Nuno Tristão and Antão Gonçalves reached Cape Blanco in 1441. The Portuguese sighted the Bay of Arguin in 1443 and built an important fort there around the year 1448. Dinis Dias soon came across the Senegal River and rounded the peninsula of Cap-Vert in 1444. By this stage the explorers had passed the southern boundary of the desert, and from then on Henry had one of his wishes fulfilled: the Portuguese had circumvented the Muslim land-based trade routes across the western Sahara Desert, and slaves and gold began arriving in Portugal. From 1444 to 1446, as many as forty vessels sailed from Lagos on Henry's behalf, and the first private mercantile expeditions began.Alvise Cadamosto explored the Atlantic coast of Africa and discovered several islands of the Cape Verde archipelago between 1455 and 1456. In his first voyage, which started on 22 March 1455, he visited the Madeira Islands and the Canary Islands. On the second voyage, in 1456, Cadamosto became the first European to reach the Cape Verde Islands
After is great life of exploration,discovery,and richess Henry th Navigator die in his country, the Portugal the 13 November 1460. H is now in the monaster of Battalia his last sleeping place. We can concluded that his life will ever influenced the life and the history of the Portugal and the rise of the humanity with is courage .
