The artwork for "We Found Love" was released by Rihanna's Facebook page which Grady Smith of Entertainment Weekly's The Music Mix criticized writing "... Rihanna repeats over a David Guetta-ish synth beat. But judging by the single cover, her place doesn't look too hopeless, does it? Maybe there's a building on fire outside the frame, and that fire hydrant doesn't work. I guess that would be hopeless." suggesting that the album artwork doesn't reflect the theme of the song well. As for what she's wearing a reviewer for Neon Limelight said that, "She really is going for that sexy tomboy look this album era it seems; remember the laid back look she rocked on the single's cover art?". Also, Bill Lamb of About.com commented, "As always with Rihanna it is yet another new look and style. The subtle black and white street look is impressively fresh and a significant contrast from the bathed in red Loud era."

On January 13, 2012, Rap-Up released a remix of "We Found Love" by US rapper Flo Rida. Flo Rida's parts overlap Calvin Harris' produced dance beats. In the opening lines, Flo Rida introduces himself and raps tongue twisters about Rihanna and The Bahamas, "You know I got love for you/ See what happened was we in Bahams/ I remember it was the ox summer, oh so pretty I/ ..Girl nice to meet you what's the honour/ Yeah she tap me told me she Rihanna.". He ends a rapid paced rap with the lines, "Yeah, she'll tell you what the color was."[121] He repeatedly sings after each verse's chorus, referencing Rihanna's home country Barbados, Ludacris' song "My Chick Bad" (2010). He also references singer Mick Jagger singing that he is "rocking a party 'like I'm Mick Jagger." Flo Rida, himself in an interview with NME revealed that it was an honor for him to work with Rihanna.
