Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy. His father is Domenico Columo and his mother is Susanna Fotanarossa.
Columbus's family moved to Savona, Italy. During this year Columbus sailed on a Genoese ship hired by Rene of Anjou to support the attempt to conquer the Kingdom of Naples.
Columbus did an apprenticeship as business agent for Centurione, Di Negro and Spinola Families in Genoa.
Columbus participated in an armed convoy to carry cargo into Northern Europe.
Columbus met with his brother, Bartholomew in Lisbon, Portugal and worked as a cartographer.
Columbus married, for the first time, Filipa Perestrelo Moniz. Her father was an explorer. Filipa gave Columbus her dead father's charts of wind and current in Portuguese Possessions.

Filipa, Columbus' wife, dies of consumption in Porto Santo Island. That same year, Columbus moves to Cadiz, Spain and opens up a shop with maps and charts.
Columbus marries Dona Beatriz Enriquez of Arana from Cordova, Spain.
Columbus works in the service of Duke of Medina Celi, Don Luis de la Cerda. Columbus also proposes his plans to King Henry VII of England and King Charles VIII of France but was declined.
Dona and Christopher have a son in 1488 and name him Ferdinand.
Columbus asks for patronage from King Ferdinand of Spain was is refused. A priest, Father Perez, helps Columbus by pleading to Queen Isabella to fund him for his voyages.
King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain agree to provide money and ships for Columbus.
Columbus is in search for the Indies on his ship, the Santa Maria. The 2 other ships that followed were the Nina and the Pinta.

As they enter the Sargasso Sea the weather conditions become worse. Columbus tricks the crew as to the real length of their trip
Columbus told his crew the journey would be shorter however it was longer than expected. The crew became angry.
Columbus spots land, however it is not the right spot they were searching for.
The crew on the Pinta ship land on Watling's Island in the Bahamas, West Indies. They name this island San Salvador. Columbus believes it is the passage to India and China.
Columbus and his crew end up in Cuba.
The Santa Maria sinks on the coast of Hispaniola. Columbus establishes a Spanish settlement in the New World.
Columbus begins his journey back to Spain.
Columbus arrives in Palos, Spain and tells about the news of the New World
The second voyage includes 16 ships and 1500 men including Juan Ponce de Leon. He explores Jamaica and encounters native Indians. He creates a Spanish settlement in Haiti and searches for Gold.
Columbus returns to Spain a second time.
This voyage is from Seville, Spain with 6 ships involved.
Columbus arrives at Cape Verde Islands, near Trinidad. He crosses the mainland to discover pearls. Columbus was the European first to land in South America but was criticized for the problems that occurred.
Francisco de Bobadilla ordered to investigate Columbus. He landed on Santo Domingo, where Columbus and his brother think of themselves as rulers of this country. They were imprisioned in chains and sent home. The Spanish people freed him and he proposed another voyage.
Christopher Columbus leaves Cadiz, Spain with four ships on his last voyage. He discovered Central America. He explored the costs of Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.
Columbus returns to Spain from his fourth and last voyage.
Christopher Columbus dies in Spanish Court at Valladolid.
