The Mardan Award
The Mardan Award was presented to Henry T. Segerstrom by the Mardan Center of Education Therapy. The Mardan School is a non-profit school that fulfills the educational needs of children in Orange County. Since 1962, its mission is to support bright children whose emotional, social, behavioral, and/or learning difficulties have impacted their ability to succeed in typical school settings.

Pioneers of Enterprise Honored
Chapman College, Orange County's privately supported college marked its anniversary at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel, creating an "American Celebration". The centerpiece of the evening was a multimedia presentation that honored four families and individuals in pioneering enterprise. The four families and individuals were the Segerstroms, the Knott family, Carl Karcher and Dr. Arnold O. Beckman. The honorees shared similar traits. They acted on principles of initiative, individual responsibility and hard work to build enterprises of great size. They also enriched their communities with support of arts and education.

Honor for Henry T. Segerstrom
The California Theatre Council honored Henry T. Segerstrom at their Ninth Annual Awards Dinner. The California theatre community honored Segerstrom for his leadership in the support of theatre and all the arts. The California Theater building, at 1122 Fourth Avenue (at C St.) inSan Diego, was built in 1927 at a cost of $340,000, The Spanish Colonial Revival building, designed by John Paxton Perrine, was added to the list of San Diego's Register of Designated Historical Resources in 1990.

Commendation for Distinguished Public Service
Henry T. Segerstrom was recognized by the California Water Commission for his years, 1957 to 1984, as Director of the Orange County Water District. Henry Segerstrom served three consecutive terms as the President of the Board of Directors and initiated the District's commitment to waste water reclamation that resulted in the construction of Water Factory 21 ad was able to settle the long-standing water rights disputes int he Santa Ana River. He contributed is tie, ability, and business experience to the work of the District and established a management technique that made the Orange County Water District unique int he State of California.

Henry Segerstrom was selected as the 1988 recipient of the Leonardo da Vinci Award for his continuous and outstanding contributions of time, energy and money; and was instrumental to and played a leadership role in the creation of the Performing Arts Center and made it a reality. Henry Segerstrom, as Chairman of the Performing Arts Center, capably directed the largest fund development program within Orange County and secured an endowment to the Arts of $65,000,000.
