Rinse FM was founded in 1994. It is a London-based community radio station, licensed for "young people living and/or working within the central, east and south London areas.".The station plays grime, dubstep, house, jungle and funky and other UK-centric dance music. The station was operated as pirate radio station until it was given a community FM broadcast license.It provided first exposure to Dizzee Rascal and Wiley.
Wiley begins rapping on pirate radio rapping over jungle beats. He then gets a record deal in 2004 with XL.
Dizzie makes an independent record label called ' Dirtee stank'
Lethal B brings the best MCs from across the grime scene together and releases Pow! (Forward Riddim) in 2004, which reaches number 11 in the Official Singles Chart.
Jamal Edwards sets up SBTV, an online platform which allowed MCs the artistic freedom to create what they want for their fan base without label limitations.
Jammer releases Lord Of The Mics Vol 1, a compilation of grime battles which mcs call each other out and performances
Lord Of The Mics Vol.2 is released and they get a label.
In 2009 we saw five numbers ones from different grime artists including: Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk.
Rinse FM get a legal license.
Wiley has a grime event called 'Eskimo dance'.
So Solid Crew team up with other Grime MCs and run the So Solid reunion tour in 2013.
Stormzy wins best grime act at the Mobo awards 2014.
Kanye West brings out grime MCs at the Brit Awards 2015 and performs alongside Boy Better Know in Camden.Wireless 2015 and Drake brings out Skepta during his headline performance.
