We went on site to meet our neighbours at Nova Scotia Power during their lunch hour. We had a blast with some hands-on fun activities and showed them our plans for the New Centre.

The first two staircase levels are installed. The second two levels followed shortly after that. Together, the entire staircase weights about 16,000 kg - the equivalent of 10 mid-size cars!

There is so much steel being used inside the New Discovery Centre. Here, the foundation for the floors are being installed.
One of the most impressive features in the New Centre is the Immersive Dome Theatre. Here, the custom-made circular steel, cut in Ontario and shipped to Halifax, is installed by RKO Steel.

As the vertical steel ribs of the Theatre are installed, the shape and scale of the new Dome Theatre becomes clear. This huge structure has an internal volume of 5,500,000 litres, or 22,000,000 glasses of water!

One of four huge concrete slabs are removed from the building to make way for the New Centre's entrance. Each slab weighs 2.5 tonnes and is 12 inches thick.
With four concrete panels removed, we now have the makings of our New Centre entrance. Doors to come soon!

Our incredible entrance way, featuring our floating staircase, is coming along exceptionally well. As soon as visitors walk in they will see a buzz of activity.
