Seton Legacy of Charity

The Seton Legacy developed from the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph's founded by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in St. Joseph's Valley near Emmitsburg, Maryland. Mother Seton and the Sulpicians modeled the American Sisters of Charity on the Daughters of Charity established by St. Louise de Marillac and St. Vincent de Paul at Paris in 1633. Today the Sisters and Daughters of Charity collaborate in the Sisters of Charity Federation.
