Florence Nightingale was born in 1820 from a rich family. She was the younger of two children. She was named Florence because she was born there and it is a beautiful country.
At age twenty-four(just the right age to marry)she was requested to marry a man. She rejected him to become a nurse like her dream.
In 1847 she went travelling with her family friends. She met Sidney and Elizabeth Herbert who both wanted to help nurses and they enjoyed each other's company.
Florence now visits the hospital and learns the world of medicine there. Then there were only Male doctors so she could only be a nurse but it wasn't a respected job like a doctor.
Florence Nightingale got a job by the recommendation by Elizabeth Herbert. She got an unpaid job to take care of young ladies. She had loved her job as a helper and she improved the system there
She was asked by Sidney Herbert, the war secretary to come ad help the soldiers for the government. She agreed to come and help with her nurses.
When she arrived to the hospital men doctors disagreed at first. But they did know that they needed help from the women nurses, so they later did agree to let them stay and help do the work.
Nightingale training school finally opens. In this year her school is still opened now.
Florence Nightingale was the first women to ever get the Order Of ment.She is 90 years old when she received the award.
Florence Nightingale died at the age of ninety after working very hard.
Florence Nightingale award was made by the Red Cross.
