Spondiloarthropaties, another case of Yentl’s syndrome? Timelines of gender biases and scientific Innovations

The scientific knowledge about Spondyloarthropathies (SpA) has skewed the diagnoses of this disease in women; basically because it is related to its unique condition for men. The lower diagnostic rate of SpA in women or delayed diagnosis and treatment are some of the consequences. 60 years after the references in the scientific literature that SpA were also experienced by women remain the same gender bias. Scientific innovations has contributed to increased diagnoses of SpA in women in the specialized field of healthcare. It is a clear example of how scientific innovation is contributing to the elimination of misdiagnosis bias and quality of life of patients with SpA. But also have a long journey of shares within the scope of primary care where gender biases in SpA are still maintained.
