In the "Tolkien universe", middle-earth( Arda) IS our own world, before it was shaped like it is today, before modern history.;xNLx;;xNLx;This is an attempt to count backwards in time and place the great events of our own history and those of the elder days in a single unified timeline.;xNLx;This is my theory, where i have taken into account as much of history, religious tales, research and Tolkien's words as possible.;xNLx;;xNLx;Many of the stories in the bilbe have similar stories in the holy quran and lots of other holy writings around the world. ;xNLx;In my thoery, those all stem from one basic true story, which has been changed over time and evolved into these unique stories we have today in the bible, in the quran etc. And this true story is what really happened to the decendands of Aragorn, after the war of the ring.;xNLx;;xNLx;I have placed the end of the fourth age at 3200 BC because on page 49 in "Tolken: The Illustrated Encyclopaedia" by David Day, there is a picture of how our world looked like in the fourth age of the sun and above it there is an explanation of the picture, saying like, from the end of the 3rd age to "historic time". And i read somewhere else that the fourth age probably enden with "recorded history", which i think is the same. ;xNLx;Then i read that recorded history starts with the invention of the first script, which was around 3200 BC.;xNLx;;xNLx;The lenght of the fourth age is very uncertain and alot of peaple have different theories.;xNLx;My theory is a combination of alot of other peoples' theories, "recorded history", religions and words from Tolkien-experts and the man himself.;xNLx;In Tolkien: The Illustrated Encyclopaedia by David Day, This is said: "Another 3900 years pass before the cataclysmic destruction of the Atlantis-like culture of Númenor results in this mythical world's transformation into the globed world we know today. The events of the REMAINING 4000 years of Tolkien's annals were then intended to lead on eventually and inevitably to ordinary history";xNLx;The 3900 years mentioned refers to the first and second ages combined. While the 4000 years mentioned must therefore be refering to the 3021 years of the third age and then another 979 years for the fourth. This is what i've chosen to go with in this theory, and this puts the start of the fourth age at 4179 BC.;xNLx;;xNLx;Tolkien himselt said in a letter that he believed that we were at the end of the 6th age or at the beginning of the 7th( this was written 13 years after WW2). Many people think that the event that marked the end of the 6th and beginning of the 7th age was the death of hitler. This is further reinforced by the fact that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ages all end with the defeat of a great evil, so this is the theory i have chosen to believe in as well.;xNLx;;xNLx;So now i had the fifth age starting at 3200 BC and the seventh at 1945 AD. I needed an event that ended the 5th and started the 6th.;xNLx;Here i thought that the birth of jesus was so important that the whole world made this "year 0" so why not take that as the difining event. This also made the length of the ages somewhat to my liking and it agrees with many of the theories out there.;xNLx;;xNLx;In the story of the fifht age here in my timeline i explain how in Luke's genealogy of Jesus, you can see his line through time via his father Joseph. Jesus is here #76 and there are some interesting names here, like:;xNLx;#35 Nathan( ancestor of Joseph, brother of Solomon( ancestor of Mary)), #34 David, #24 Judah, #23 Jacob, #22 Isaac, #21 Abraham, #12 Shem, # 11 Noah, #3 Seth, #2 Adam and #1 God.;xNLx;I explain how i think "god" here in this genealogy isn't actually god, but perhaps Eldarion, Aragorn's son and that they may be the fathers of this line.;xNLx;Then there would be an explanation for the deeds of the people in this line and why they were so special.;xNLx;;xNLx;I at some point thought that maybe the flood or the exodus from Egypt were great candidates for the end of the firth age, but decided later that the birth of Jesus was more suitable. ;xNLx;After Jesus we cannot follow the line of Aragorn any more although some say that Jesus had a son named Judah with Mary Magdalene but nothing more of his line is known.;xNLx;;xNLx;I intend to add events from all the different ages into this timeline in the future.
