The first book I ever read was 'Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister. I can't be completely certain this was my first book, but I know it was one of my first because I remember the shiny scales on Rainbow Fish.
My first experience with writing was when I wrote(more like attempted) my name for the first time. Like most kids, I used a green crayon.
I wrote my first paragraph when I was in 2nd grade about my interests and personality. This gave me my first written perspective on who I am.
I learned how to type on a computer in 3rd grade and it definitely a landmark in my development as a writer seeing that, for the most part I type out what I write.
I wrote my first paper in 4th grade. It was a Sci-fi narrative and it was my first enjoyable writing experience that I can remember.
One of the coolest writing experiences I've ever done happened in 5th grade surprisingly. We were tasked with creating a Apple book on celestial bodies and phenomena. It was extremely cool because it was the first time I had used a lab top and the entire process was illuminating.
In 6th grade I had a weekly reading log and my teacher encouraged us to push our limits. Me being a person with a desire to impress my teacher decided to really push myself and read for over 24 hours. I did and it was a great experience.
One of my most vigorous reading ventures was when I tackled the entire Harry Potter series in the month of August right before the start of going into middle school. I finished the entire series in a month and this event proved to me that I was a strong reader.
In the summer of 6th grade I was introduced to comics through an older friend of mine who I looked up to. Comics expanded my notion on what a novel can be and how creative and visual one can get with their writing.
This was the first time I had ever analyzed and wrote on the art of rap. This obviously is very significant to me because I now do that same sort of thing for a profession.
The first time I read on an iPad was extremely interesting event because it was such a strange platform for one to read on for me, seeing that I had read books for the majority of my life. This occurrence illuminated me to the concept of reading information through new media platforms.
This was an extremely significant moment because like the title states it was my first analytical essay, which is a significant for every writer. A lot of the components and elements that make up a analytical essay are used as tools for other types of writing.
'This Song is Sick' was the first music blog I ever followed and was the site which introduced me to the blogosphere and all its wonders.
I took AP Music Theory when I was a Junior in high school and by learning this skill I was able to analyze music to a much greater extant then previously. I still use a lot of the concepts I was taught in that course when I review a track
Nothing was the same after I wrote my first blog post. I experienced an instant connection with the activity because it combined my two favorite things in the world, writing and music.
Joining the writing staff of EARMILK was a dream come true. It was my start as a professional and respected writer in the music community. This single event has had the most influence on my life so far and I'm so blessed that it happened.
