In order to look at problem solving strategies we can turn to Singapore as an example since it is one of the least congested cities. Ideas: -free public transportation in pre-morning peak hours -Vehicle Quota System (VQS) -regulates the rate of growth of vehicles on our roads, at a rate that can be sustained by developments in land transport infrastructure -congestion charge (Electronic Road Pricing systems (ERP – tolls that vary according to traffic flows, and work as a congestion charge). The ERP uses a short-range radio communication system to deduct charges from smart cards inserted in the vehicles). -Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System, alerting motorists to traffic accidents on major roads and a GPS system installed on the city taxis, which monitors and reports on traffic conditions around the city. All information from the systems feed into the Intelligent Transport System’s Operations Control Centre, which consolidates the data and provides real-time traffic information to the public. -an extensive public transport system

Brainstorming notes from Workshop 2. Many interesting ideas came through this workshop including integration with existing culture and addressing existing problems.
An elevated green communal space with above-ground monorail/tram system to reduce ground-level traffic. Discussions about where to locate it are vital for sucessful integration in the existing transport network.
Alex from Studio AR was saying how deciding a concept name was important as it would help to refine our goals.

A preliminary 3D rendering showing relationship with elevated platform and buildings. One issue to work on is the lack of privacy and blocking out of sunlight that this causes. These ideas will be refined in time for the final presentation.
Presentation to be editted in Prezi to allow us to better tell our design process and incorporate media effectively. Our final concept is to be revealed on Feb 17th at 2pm!
