Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Theodor Robert Geisel, a successful brewmaster, and Henrietta Seuss Geisel.
At age 18, Geisel left home to attend Dartmouth College, where he became the editor in chief of its humor magazine, Jack-O-Lantern. When Geisel and his friends were caught drinking in his dorm room one night, in violation of Prohibition law, he was kicked off the magazine staff, but continued to contribute to it using the pseudonym "Seuss."
After graduating from Dartmouth, Geisel attended Oxford University in England, with plans to eventually become a professor.
Ted Geisel marries Helen Palmer and moves to New York city.
Geisel creates his first “ Quick, Henry, the Flit!” advertisement.
Helen learns that she cannot have children. Ted writes his children’s book, an ABC of fanciful creatures. It doesn’t find a publisher.
And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street, Dr. Seuss’s first published children’s book. Beatrix Potter calls it “the cleverest book I have met with for many years”.
The 500 а Bartholomew Cubbins, the first inspired be Seuss’s growing collections of hats.
The King’s Stilts, Seuss’s first book in which cats play major role: Patrol Cats guard the Dike trees that protect the island nation of Binn from the ocean. It is also Seuss’s first children’s book for Random House.

Seuss begins his career as a political cartoonist, ultimately publishing over 400 cartoons in the New York newspaper PM.
Joining the army’s information and Education Division, Captain Geisel goes to Hollywood’s “ Fort Fox”, where, working with civilian directors Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng, his creates Private SNAFU, who teaches by negative example.
