Touring Similkameen

To kick off the tour we first went down to the Chipaca church where Teresa Anne Terbasket gave us the history of the church. After the visit, we moved onto spotted lake. On the bus ride there Carrie Terbasket gave us more facts of the places we passed. When we finally arrived to spotted lake, we were given a refresher on the historic background and importance of the lake. We were given some tobacco and were told to place it where we pleased. We then proceeded to walk around the lake. Jeremy, Ryan, Malik, Dyawen, Logan and Shane made the brave decision to walk around the "spots" where the terrain was far from ideal. Shane placed his tobacco in front of a crystalline formation he found near a spot. Kallie placed hers near one of the spots closest to the shore line. Logan placed his tobacco in one of the spots in the middle of the lake and Harmony placed hers near a circle of rocks in the tall grass. After wrecking our shoes with the mud, We went to the town of Osooya where we went to lunch. For lunch we had Curry soup and several assorted sandwich's. Even though there was plenty to choose from, most of us only ate crackers and candy canes. After the filling lunch we continued our journey to Penticton where we met with Marlowe Sam and he talked about his long career in environmental activism and the several other topics. After talking with Marlowe we were given some free time to walk to minkos where had a group dinner. To end our day we went to the Penticton community centre to swim. After a long day filled with knowledge and We came back to Tree To Me to enjoy each other's company before we all have to go our separate ways again.

BFN Group Meeting

We met in the evening, had dinner and discussed further into our action plan and decided that it was in our best interest to change our initial ideas of creating water conservation kits (as cost was becoming an issue) and decided to go down the road of hosting workshops to bring more water awareness as that would be the ideal start. Knowledge is power after all.

Dog Sledding

Dog sledding was a life changing experience for our team. It was a new and awesome thing that none of us had done. The scenery, the wind on your face, and the speed from the dogs was such a rush. We loved it all.
