Who & Why undertake the growing of fashionable facial fur as part of Movember, an international event to raise money and awareness for men's health.
Movember challenges men to grow a moustache for the 30-days of November, thereby changing their appearance and the face of men’s health. In October Mo Bros sign up and on the 1st of Movember with a clean-shaven face start their Mo growing journey. Through their growing efforts they raise awareness for the often ignored issues of men’s health, by prompting conversations wherever they go.

There is a reason women are better at sharing their feelings than men... It’s down to a part of the brain called Corpus Callosum, which is the 'bridge' between the left and right hemispheres. The bridge is much bigger in women than in men, allowing women to think and feel at the same time, while men tend to separate what they are thinking from what they are feeling. Movember is about promoting good mental health in men, so take the time to talk to a man in your life about how he’s feeling... but if you’re a woman - take it slowly!

It seems men with a mo will touch their facial friend an average of 760 times in a 24-hour period. We've been watching Simon pretty closely and that stat seems about right!
We'll be asking exactly that on Thursday when we're joined by Angus King in our first ever Who&Why Google+ Hangout as part of #Movember. Angus beat cancer, but not before it claimed one of the crown jewels. He's an inspiring survivor who has embraced humour and honesty throughout his ordeal. When diagnosed, he held a 'Ball Ball' to raise funds for surgery and his prosthetic replacement. Donors were offered an annual squeeze as an incentive! Movember is about lifting the lid on otherwise unspoken topics and raising money for testicular cancer. We'll be doing both on Thursday so join us in the Hangout or catch the recording when we post it afterwards. Angus King talks to Simon about his experience in beating cancer and on living with a prosthetic testicle, a casualty of his battle. Originally streamed live as a Google Hangout, this is a second chance to catch a frank and open conversation about a condition that affects around 7% of the male population.
The oldest artefact depicting a Mo dates back to 300 BC. The image is from a Russian tomb and depicts a Pazyryk horseman. Incredibly, it's not a painting, but a felt wall hanging, and was found with rugs, silks and other antiquities that were preserved when water seeped into the tombs, literally freezing them in time!
