2011-Year in Review

2011 was a year of change. ;xNLx;;xNLx;We saw change in our social media with the new Google+ and the overhaul of both Twitter and Facebook. ;xNLx;;xNLx;We saw new relationships forming, first between Prince William and Kate Middleton, then Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, and then Siri and her fans. ;xNLx;;xNLx;We also said good-bye to some of our favorite icons-from Steve Jobs passing to The Oprah Winfrey Show finale to the final space shuttle flight. ;xNLx;;xNLx;Take a quick look back at what just happened in 2011.

The royal wedding at Westminister Abbey between Prince William and Kate Middleton was nothing short of a fairytale. The story of a "commoner" marrying a prince stuck a chord, especially here in the U.S. and became an obsession. People purchased everything from plates and coins to gnomes and sick bags in order to commemorate the date.

American Christian radio broadcaster Harold Camping declares May 21st the day of Rapture with billboards and signs across the nation. When we all woke up on May 22, he declared the Rapture to ACTUALLY be October 21st. Spoiler alert: it didn't happen.

The Oprah Winfrey Show Finale Airs

The Oprah Winfrey Show, after 25 seasons, is over. Winfrey said farewell with a two-part special, taped in front an audience of 13,000. Guests included Tom Cruise, Aretha Franklin, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. This isn't the last we will be hearing from Oprah Winfrey, however. The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) was launched in January featuring lifestyle programs.
