National Woman Suffrage Association
Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton form the National Woman Suffrage Association. The primary goal of the organization is to achieve voting rights for women by means of a Congressional amendment to the Constitution.

The women's suffrage amendment, originally written by Susan B. Anthony, was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate in 1919. Women go to work
A massive government and industry media campaign persuades women to take jobs during the war. Almost 7 million women respond, 2 million as industrial "Rosie the Riveters" and 400,000 join the military.

Birth Control
The Food and Drug Administration approves birth control pills. This is over 30 years after the federal law passed that birth control ads were no longer considered obscene.

Equal Pay Act
Congress passes the Equal Pay Act, making it illegal for employers to pay a woman less than what a man would receive for the same job. It does not cover domestics, agricultural workers, executives, administrators or professionals.

Row v. Wade
As a result of supreme court case Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court establishes a woman's right to safe and legal abortion, overriding the anti-abortion laws of many states. Abortion is still a very controversial matter even in today's age.
