My first teaching experience began in Teia, Spain - a small town 20 minutes north of Barcelona. I taught English in primary schools by day and privately tutored at night.
I returned to Boise, Idaho to start a graduate program in secondary education.
For one semester, before I began student teaching full-time, I worked with the College Assistance for Migrants program at Boise State.
My first student teaching assignment was at Kuna Middle School. For the first semester, I observed in a Language Arts classroom and worked with small groups.
In January, I returned from a trip abroad and jumped right into student teaching full-time. I was in the same classroom as the semester before working with the same wonderful lead teacher and students, so I felt right at home.
Over the summer, I was a teaching assistant for two sessions of the Center for Talented Youth summer program in Easton, PA. The course was "Crafting the Essay."
Also at this time I began teaching 11th grade English for the Meridian School District's night school program.
I was happy to work briefly as an assistant Spanish teacher at Foothills School for Arts and Sciences in Boise, ID.
I continued to teach the same English 11 curriculum for the Meridian School District's night school program.
I then moved out to Georgia and began teaching middle school Spanish to grade 6-8. I taught using the IB framwork and lead such classes as advanced Spanish and Spanish for Native Speakers.
My journey as an educator continues as I begin the Master's in Educational Technology program at Boise State.
