"Mehmet Fatih (rules 1451-81) conquers Constantinople. The two halves of the Ottoman Empire are united and the sultan becomes Byzantine emperor." Later, the Muslims and Jews who reside in Spain are expelled. The Ottoman Empire continued to conquer Syria and Egypt while controlling Mecca and Medina.
"Muhammad Ali becomes governor of Egypt, which becomes independent of the Ottomans, gains control of western Arabia and extends into the Sudan."
"Last decade of Ottoman rule. Rise of nationalistic "Young Turks." More liberal policies develop." Let's not forget the Ottoman Empire were the cause of many tragedies in efforts to gain control, including the Armenian Holocaust in 1915. Their power and hunger for control lead to more blood baths than 'cleansing'. The fall of the Ottoman Empire lead to: " League of Nations grants Britain mandatory status over Palestine and Iraq, and France over Lebanon and Syria."
Islam continues to spread faithfully to Asia, Africa and India.
The United States is infected with Islamophobia, prejudice and hatred toward Muslims. With this, a fear has come over the general American public of Muslims, due to the fear of 9/11.
The United States of America is attacked by muslim extremists on September 11, 2001.
During a marathon in Boston, two pressure cooker bombs exploded. The accusations were toward the Muslim community, due to the 9/11 attacks. This tragedy like many others continues to be the spark of Islamophobia in America.
