Truth behind apple
A rather interesting anecdote around this time period is how Newton became fascinated with the concept of gravity. The story goes that Newton was sitting in an orchard in his hometown of Woolesthorpe in between schooling observing and apple hanging from a tree. When he noticed the apple fall from the tree, he began to speculate what had caused it to fall. He determined that there must have been another force acting upon the apple pushing it down and causing it to fall off the tree, a force which he called "gravity", and which resulted in Newton's second law after further study
