In 2009, Rajni Shah Projects began creating a new piece of musical theatre called Glorious. Each time Glorious was performed, the company worked with a new set of local musicians and residents.;xNLx;;xNLx;From 2010 to 2013, the project was accompanied by a private social network for participants, supporters and other family to gather and share photos, blog posts, snippets of music and memories. Rajni, Lucille and Karen will spend a few days in Nottingham, taking a look around and working out how things may work there. Helena and Suzie will also visit for one day.
Rajni, Lucille and Sheila will go to Newcastle for a residency. Suzie, Mary and Helena will go visit them at some point too.
As part of the development process for Glorious we will be working with ten participants in a free three-day workshop at a Newcastle city centre venue during the early evenings of November 10th, 11th and 12th, ending with an informal celebratory performance on the last evening. Participants will work with Rajni and her collaborators to create short simple performances based on autobiographical material, using a combination of voice, text and objects. Workshop participants need not have prior experience in any of these areas; each participant will be able to work with the areas that interest him/her most. Participants will be broadly responding to the question: "How does it feel to be alive today?" This workshop is not for professional artists - enthusiasm and curiosity are all that's required. The workshop will be led by Rajni Shah with costume designer Lucille Acevedo-Jones and performer Sheila Ghelani

Meeting as usual, on the last Friday of this Glorious month of November. Highlights include: Glorious structure, technical specs, what happened in Nottingham and Newcastle, preparing for rehearsal in December and more! We'll meet 4-6pm, followed by pot-luck dinner at my flat, so bring your own treat.

Rajni, Karen and Lucille lead letter-writing sessions about place in The Meadows, starting Saturdays Jan 29th and Feb 5th. Come along and have some cake! More info to follow. This will be followed by rehearsals with musicians and local performers, coming together in the week of Feb 14th to shape up the preview performance.
