As part of the Space Rce between The Soviet Union and the US, Working hastily, the Soviets launched their second satellite (Sputnik 2) with a living animal (Laika the dog) on board. But sadly after the lanch she died cause no plan was made to get her back home.

The British artist Gerald Holtom , first started by drawing a circle with three lines inside, intending the design to be a symbol for the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC).
