Strikes begin in st. Petersburg

Fed up with Government, strikers join together at the Putilov plant in St. Petersburg. The Citizens support the striking and more strikes erupt. The number of strikers reached over 80,000.

1905-01-22 00:00:00

Bloody Sunday, The begining of Revolution.

Innocent strikers shot dead. estimated 4000 dead and 1000 wounded. This led to disorder and looting in the city.

General Strike in Russia Poland

After Bloody Sunday all of Russia was called to a general strike over 400,000 workers joined in to support the cause.

October Manifesto Presented

It closely followed the demands of the Zemstvo Congress which granted basic civil rights, allowed the formation of political parties, extended the franchise towards universal suffrage, and establishied the Duma as the central legislative body.

October Manifesto Signed by tsar

after three days of arguing the Tsar had finally signed the manifesto. shortly after he was filled with Regret. He had been betrayed by his country.

March revolution begins

Rioters quickly confined the capital and armed battles between the rioters and remaining police soon broke out .

March revolution ends in mutiny

the last days under monarchy the remaining Russian military turns on the monarch. Rioters soon reach the Monarch. Tsar Nicholas would then be abdicated and soon to be replaced.

Provisional Govt. Takes Control.

A provisional government replaces the Tsar. The government was initially chaired Prince Georgy Yevgenievich Lvov, a member of the Constitutional Democratic party. The provisional Govt. would be in a power struggle with the petrograd Soviet as soon as they take control of Government.

The Bolsheviks rise

The Bolshevik Parties goal was to overthrow the Provisional Government and set up a government for the proletariat. The Bolsheviks convinced the peasants to revolt but, it ended in a massacre, this was a loss for them but, they still had a chance. Slowly after, the provisional Govt. lost support of the solgiers, the provisional government wasnt ending the war as they said. With the solgiers slowly supporting the Bolsheviks more the Provisional Govt. lost the majority of the vote. This would lead to the Bolshevik Revolution.

LENIN takes parliment

The Bolsheviks moved on their chance and had the red coat military sieze the main industries and then quickly take over the Winter palace. by doing this the Bolsheviks Revolt had ended in complete sucess. Lenin was then in complete control of politics in Russia and was ready to pull out of the war and work towards his dream of a Communist country.

The russian civil war

The civil war was fought between the Bolshevik Red Army and the White Army(the loosely allied anti-Bolshevik forces). Many foreign armies disagreed with the reds and fought against them.The Red Army soon demolished the White Armed Forces of South Russia in Ukraine.

Leninism

Leninism is a mixture of political and socialist economic theories, based on Marxism, and Lenin’s interpretations of Marxist theory. Leninism was not fully a Communist state as it still accepted some principles of capitalism allowing Russia to function correctly.

War communism

This policy was adopted by the Bolsheviks, it was the idea that fed and suplied on the solgiers and the towns and forgot about the peasants. war communism allowed trade, govt. rationed food, the military controlled the rail, and private property was now illegal.

The new economic plan

It was a new more capitalist intergrated policy that was to help raise the economy of the country which was almost ruined after the civil war. it featured private ownership of agriculture to boost money and food production in russia which was at a halt during and after the civil war.

the five year plans

under joseph Stalin several five year plans were innacted but, very few were met to criteria or even finished for that matter. A time limit on progress can help speed things up and it worked for a few they were completed early. example: The heavy industrialization in Russia was the first plan it it was a success. The plans ranged from increasing steel creation, to creating more military factories, importing more grain, and helping their farms.

The great purges

The purges frew from stalins insecurity in power and paranoia of rebellion. To wipe out all competition he invented the purges to secure his political postition as a dictator. Though not just those opposing him had faced his purges, he had to purge his citizens. 20 million people of Russia were sent to slave labour camps, more than half of them died. Stalins was quickly known in his country as a cruel dictator and this is how he became infamous around the world.

The nazi soviet pact

The nazis and soviet agreed that no agression would come between each other so they could each deal with their own problems more effectivly. The pact would soon be broken to fuel the German armies under Hitlers command breaking the truce between them and opening a new more cumbersome conflict.
