RunKeeper is a fitness technology company that packs the benefits of a personal trainer into the convenience of a smartphone.
We went live in the Apple App Store this day!
This is when we first allowed you to brag about workouts to your social networks. The process was a bit more manual than it is today, though—we're talking a URL you had to copy and paste over to Twitter, Facebook, and the like. Oh, how far things have come :).
We streamlined the social sharing process a bit more by first introducing the ability to auto-post your workout summaries to Twitter. Go efficiency!
Now you could comment on the activities of your other Street Team friends. Because everyone likes a good friendly (digital) push!
In a move to bring some social tools to the physical world, we made it super easy for you to locate Street Team members in your local area!
Almost every one has a favorite running path, so we added the ability to create and save routes on the Web. You could now track how you've been progressing over time on this path, and search routes created by others!
The FitnessFeed didn't always exist. Now, for the first time ever, you could see a stream of activity updates from your Street Team members, all in one convenient place in real time.
RunKeepers run plenty of races, so we added a Races page feature enabling you to share those accomplishments, find new events, and connect with people running the same ones as you.
Training is always better in groups! On this day we announced the launch of our Web-based virtual Fitness Classes (the precursor to our mobile Training Plans). The social piece? You could keep tabs on the other people signed up for the same Fitness Class as you.
Who doesn't want an easier way to find running buddies? Starting this day, we automatically made your Facebook friends that were RunKeeper users part of your Street Team.
