Arvada Technology Timeline

The Mission of the Innovation and Technology Management Department is to provide active collaboration for strategic planning, implementation, and support of IT systems used to enhance the live of everyone in our community. This timeline highlights how the mission is being achieved by showing the City of Arvada's Technology Evolution from the early 90's to the present and possible future.

Police/Finance/Arvada Center

All of these systems provided stand alone functions for each departments use. Most users utilized these systems through terminals at their desks.

Network Created

With the Building of a New City Hall a new Network infrastructure was setup to start connecting buildings and users who have desktop computers together. Other functions came on line as well.

Voter Registration

Staff developed a voter/jury selection application on the Prime system to replace a similar system that ran on the Unysis Computer.

Finance System Upgrade

The Finance System gets upgraded to new hardware and operating system.

Docuement Management System Planned

Ultimate goal was to be more responsive to requests and be less reliant on paper.

Upgrade Desktop Computers and OS

The practice of replacing desktop computers one third a year begins.

Internet Connection

Users at the City start to get internet access.

File Servers Upgraded

File Servers are upgraded to a new version of Operating system.

Internet Access for all

Internet access for all users in the city becomes available.

Disk Storage Changes

Shared disk storage is setup.
