Evie, I just received your 2/16/09 letter to HSJS parents and students. I would love to speak with you about what teaching Cantor Wehle's "Building Bridges" class might entail. Susan and I are kindred spirits with regard to what I think the class stands for, though I never spoke with her at length about it. I recently finished working with the Parish Nurse Ministries of NY on a grant to help seniors move safely from hospital to home; we had started outreach to synagogues to see whether there might be interest there for a similar program. We also spoke with an education director at a local mosque about the Muslim community's interest in such a project. My fortunate opportunities to travel to the Soviet Union and England in 1974, spend 6 weeks working in a Thai refugee camp in the 1980's (including side trips to Nepal and Hong Kong), and trips to other places around the world and domestically have solidified my firm belief that we all belong, as Einstein envisioned, to the "United States of the World", and our commons needs and desires consist mainly of nourishing food, shelter, truthful education, music, laughter and each other. I might be able to make time in my schedule to help continue this aspect of Susan's ministry. Best, Rob
