The Lawton Chiles Legal Information Center is the law library for the University of Florida Levin College of Law. A $25 million expansion and renovation project in 2005 made the UF Law library one of the largest in the Southeast and among the top 20 in the country.;xNLx;

The LIC Answered Over 1600 Reference Questions

This year, 105 questions from law faculty have been fielded and recorded in our reference database, Gimlet (July 1, 2013 to May 11, 2014). Examples include locating and delivering known items (such as cases and journal articles), technology questions (e.g., password problems, utilizing VPN), or general research assistance (e.g., what database has a particular type of material, whether a particular regulation been amended).

Outreach: Cuban Lawyers Project

In January 2014, Dean Jerry appointed a committee to plan a reunion of the alumni of the Cuban American Lawyers Program offered by the College of Law in the 1970s to assist immigrant Cuban lawyers with fulfilling the requirements of the Florida Bar so that they could pursue their profession in the United States.

Faculty Liaison Program

Faculty members at the College of Law are assigned a “librarian liaison.” Each librarian has 5-7 faculty members for which they act as liaisons for all research and library-related questions. This includes tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as adjuncts, legal writing, legal drafting, and clinical faculty. As part of their liaison duties, librarians reach out to faculty and offer to meet with them, discuss their scholarship and research needs, and to provide services throughout the year.
