Marconi transmits the letter 'S' from Cornwall England that is received in Newfoundland proving that radio signals will propagate beyond the horizon. This breakthrough prompted rapid advances in communications technology.

Women’s Trade Union League (WTOL)

In the early 1900’s WTUL introduced and fueled the idea of “working class feminism.” It focused on uniting all women, regardless of socioeconomic class. The group provided support for women during times of strike, most notably the New York textile worker strike in 1909.
